How much does video cost?

Here's what they don't tell you.

It’s not about how much you spend. It’s about what you get for it. We work with our clients to maximize their budgets by combining a clear purpose with a cohesive marketing strategy. Too many times in the past we have seen clients spend big dollars on production without the proper plan to see a return. Remember, it’s not just about creating the content. You also have to have a plan for distribution and how to measure success. Then it turns from an expense, to just a cost of doing business. That’s the goal for both of us.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How much does an average video cost?

Video production costs can vary from $2k (one man band for the web) all the way up to around $150k (commercial production for TV). We excel at providing value, whether that be production quality, or combining multiple videos into a single day to save cost per video.

What is Pre Production?

Pre production is the most critical part of any video. This involves everything required to turn an idea into a reality. It starts with the creative (i.e. script, idea, pitch), and then involves producing it (i.e. shot lists, location scouts, casting, market research, prop hunting, rehearsals, schedules, call sheets, etc.). For each project, we handle all, some, or a little, depending on what’s required to get a return on your investment.

What type of camera do we shoot with?

Each production is different. We choose the weapon that gives us the best result, even if that means a rental. However, our typical go-to cinema cameras are the Blackmagic Pocket 6ks and the Red Komodo. Either way, you are getting top quality 4k delivered from a 6k sensor.

Do you shoot 4k? 8k?

Our in house camera’s shoot Raw quality up to 6k. We have worked with 8k many times as a rental option and are quite familiar with that workflow, should it be required for the production.

Do you have a drone for aerial shots?

Yes, we have a drone and multiple licensed drone pilots available for any project that requires it.

What is Post Production?

After production, comes post-production. For post, first we collect any digital assets needed for your project (i.e.a vector sized logo file (.eps or .ai), stills, animations, voiceovers, etc.). Once we have all the assets, we lock ourselves in the cellar till we proudly present our rough cut.

How long does it take to edit?

Post production varies from project to project, but a typical turnaround is 1-2 weeks for a single video, and one to two months for a mutliple video project.

What is your video review process?

Currently, we use Wipster for client review. For each project, we upload the video and send for review. Wipster allows you to click right on the video to make notes that go straight to the editor. This is a seamless way to keep track of changes, keep client’s easily involved, and save time with a litany of emails.

Does the video include a logo animation?

Logo animations, or logo stings, are typically made as leaders for a series of videos from a brand. We will include logo reveals in our video projects, usually at no additional charge, but for a cohesive logo sting to be used as the standard for a client’s brand, that is an additional process, and fee to do right.

How do you deliver the final videos?

Unless othewise noted, all final videos and format variations are delivered via a dropbox link. DropBox allows for easy downloading and can store pretty large files. We also upload your final video to our Sprout account to show our recent work and for easy sharing online.
